Started the day by going back up the pass to The Overlook of Zion Park. We had arrived in pitch dark through the iconic 1.3 mile tunnel the two nights before.

As we approached the opening we were flagged down by a ranger and given a baton. When we asked 'Why?' he just said "Drive on. Go. Go. Go." We suddenly saw why US troops follow commands to the word- 'Why?' - is not an option from day ...

... besides, the pizza at the Palazzo had great Yelp! ratings. However, by the time I unloaded the car, the kids were approaching meltdown mode....especially since 2 of the 3 had not napped all day. Bump pizza and walking the strip, we headed across the street from the our hotel room to grab an easy bite at Gordon Biersch and drive the strip after dinner.
Dinner was great...Shannon and I had salads, the kids had pizza and pasta. ...

... and the old Spanish trail. After crossing a few more ranges we made it to Vegas by about 6pm.

We stayed at the Tuscan low rise resort with lovely gardens a block from the high rise madness of the Las Vegas Strip, close to halfway on the Strip. It was a crazy scene with lots of people wandering about some dressed for partying and the casinos or family groups of tourist looking at the free shows on offer.

... also great. We ended up being the last people to leave the restaurant and we hopped across the mall to check out the amazing cakes at the bakery but decided that was just too greedy. As we went to leave I looked back into the restaurant and there was Buddy Valastro which was icing on the cake to a fabulous day. We wandered back along the strip taking on the fountain show at the Bellagio which was beautiful. I think we got back to the hotel just before midnight and gratefully fell into ...
