The Fortunate

... an awesome end to our day.

In order to get to Monteverde from La Fortuna, you have to get a "jeep-boat-jeep" for a total of 3 hours. We eagerly awaited our adventure to begin, but as I had suspected and had been warned by people who had completed this adventure, the "Jeep" part of this voyage was in fact an ordinary small tourist bus. - Hot springs: There a a number of overpriced and (rich) tourist-filled hot springs around the area, and most of the water comes from the same river/source. There is also at least 1 free location that you can drive to on the side of the road to relax in the soothing ...

Cloud forest fun

... towards the entry/immigration for Costa Rica, only to see a long, long line of people standing in the sun. This couldn't be the line up to enter the country, could it? We asked an official looking guy (a policeman holding a shotgun) and sure enough, this was outer place. The end of the festive holidays + Sunday + more stringent security for the crossing Nicaragua-Costa Rica due to the living conditions/lifestyle etc. = Almost 2 hours of standing in direct ...
