Today was very exciting, we set off early in the car to travel over the border into the Czech Republic. we collected two friends of Elfi and Gottfried inLinz, and it took about 2 hours to drive. The border was very disappointing! No guards, no passport control!
The countryside was lovely, lots of forests and alongside the Moldau river, which is a centre for lots of water sports.

... stunning view. The castle and the main church in the old town really dominate the scenes across the little town, along with the winding river, making it incredibly picturesque. We even managed to find some quieter little spots away from the hordes of tourists where we could enjoy the river views in some peace, before we found a great little spot right on the river to have a beer and watch the rafters go by! ... change your mind! A good view of the overall layout but there’s not enough here for a longer stay.

Went back to the hostel for a snooze and discovered the french bloke from the previous hostel; hopefully this won’t keep happening! Was able to find the nearest supermarket with the satnav so cooked a frozen pizza. Am now comfortably ensconced in the bar downstairs interneting with the Kindle.

the next big beer town in Bohemia, Czech, is Cesky Bud, famous for the original Budwiser beer, located another two hours south of Plzen.
