Horse and Carriage country-Romania

... to drive. I find it difficult dealing with this deadline and itinerary sometimes. Doesn’t leave much space for unexpected things and lingering around when it feels good. Knew about this before we set off, and trying to accept this, but today find it very difficult. Following Mira’s idea, we choose 2 highlights in every country, not spending (much) time in between. I tell my mind to accept.

Near Brasov we park next to a little ‘pensione’ in the village ...

I am the mother and the father of that team

... I asked the driver if he wouldn`t mind taking our another 2 friends, Monika and Arek, standing 50m apart. I can`t remember the context at the moment, but I said that in the team of Bogna - Marcin I am the mother and the father there. Everyone was laughing. There were 4 of us the hitchhikers in a car again, and we did over 100km within an hour. Frankly saying, we had again more good luck than we could have wished.

Dannube's delta

Ok, I am still very impressed of what I have seen there. It's really great to see how people succeded to conserve all their traditions and just to simply admire the way they're spending they're lifes ... so simple, but at the the same they are entirely satisfied and they don't wish for anything else.

On the road again

... words). But, really, I won't learn French in a few days, especially if you only speak French to me expecting that I understand exactly what you are saying. Some would simply speak French to me. I got to the point where I just replied in English what I thought they had asked. When I tried to speak numbers in French (for the banding), I was usually corrected, or it was repeated to me in English. Individually, the people at the banding camp were charming and ...

Boats revised

... fluent in Spanish. Kinda of bassakwards excuse, but it is mine. The odd thing is, that when someone speaks to me in non-english here, I'm answering in mix of (poor) spanish and romanian, which is really making me sound like an idiot. In Romanian, yes = da, in spanish yes = si, in Romanian si = and. So I end up saying a spainsh si instead of da, which sounds like "and" to them, which makes no sense whatsoever to the question asked. The Romanian "si ...

Planes, buses and boats

After 25 hours of travelling, I arrived in Tulcea, on the Danube River. (Sorry Barbara and Shirley- I didn't listen). No major problem with jet lag. I did get a marriage proposal from a taxi driver in Bucuresti that has a friend in Tulcea that wants to go to America. Perhaps I should buy a ring ...
