... monkeys, and they are the cutest things ever. They are not afraid of you at all and put on quite a show for the cameras! Our guide had warned us though, not to leave our bags for a minute because the monkeys are famous for having one or two monkeys put on a show to distract you and the rest of the troupe comes in and steals your bag and takes it into the mangrove swamp to look for food! We were very careful, which was good because it turns out that not only do the monkeys do ...

... t much of a plunge since the deepest part of the swimming pool was up to my waist. But who cares, its roasting outside and we have some refreshing water to cool down. Some of our group then leave us to go on a catamaran ride and a couple others go for a surfing lesson which I really wanted to do too but was pretty short on cash by that time. We grab our Portuguese, Italian and Canadian friends and get a taxi to Manuel ...

... the humour pops out naturally and we laughed with this delightful young man. He stopped to share fruit with us upon returning to the hotel and told us the story of guiding a deaf person and how new and fascinating as well as fun that was for him - simply a most interesting and happy young man - I would guess his age to be 25 or 26. His beginning in life very basic but very real. Lessons, lessons...

... touristy area, loaded with hotels, resorts and bars, so thank goodness we arrived early in the morning. Carlos unloads us right on to the beach and the exploration begins almost immediately. Unlike our beaches in Charleston, these beaches are dark and rocky. The selection of shells is very different and the surf can be quite intimidating. Surfing in Costa Rica is a huge draw and you can see why when you watch these waves pounding in.

... flowing once again, without any warning. And again, after a couple of hours it came back on. When it did, I used the opportunity for a refreshing shower. And at that precise moment when I was covered head to toe with soap and shampoo, the water stopped again. I used my only towel to squeegee off the soap. It came back on again about 30 minutes later.
