... normally excepted but what the females wear / if they swim will be interesting. In practise the beach was odd. Lots of people doing maintence (including raking the beach by hand..) , putting out loungers and a installing turf lawn by the second bar but only ten attendee's. As its a big beach it was practically deserted. Its like someone is planning something big. Its surreal because there is no accommodation; maybe they're thinking of ...
Yeroluk, Turkey i_could_walkI went easy on the buffet breakfast this morning. The view from the breakfast room is superb; its on the 5th floor and has picture windows all along the sea side. The hotel is about 50 yards back from the sea with the road in front. A conflab with reception revealed that the latest time I could check out was 20.00. One of those moments to look baffled and check; eventually we got to 12.00 and it made sense. So I went upstairs and had a knap. But by 11 I was checked out, the bike was ...
Yeroluk, Turkey i_could_walk... hard work. But mostly I slept. The TV has BBC world too so its slightly distracting. But ultimately its a loop and thus irritating. I also went for a walk around town and established that its modern without a lot of interest. It was definitely cooler today being merely hot. Aircon though makes it unattractive to go outside... So the day passed sleeping walking and on the net; maybe it was the buffet breakfast. Tomorrow I will do more... 15/06/09
Yeroluk, Turkey i_could_walk... random questions for us. Although he couldn't explain why there was a headless snake lying on a rock... One of our scheduled stops was a carpet factory, partly informative, part sales pitch. We were shown how they remove silk from silk worms' cocoons, how the dyes are made from natural products and how the women weave the carpet. The owner gave us all homemade wine to butter us up before showing us fifty odd carpets. Suddenly, 15 sales ...
Pergamum and Istanbul, Turkey jonnyandliz... center. Unique in the region, geologic oddities have conspired in Pamukkale to form the famous travertines, a huge series of terraced pools formed of calcium carbonate. In Turkish, Pamukkale means "cotton castle," and with our first glimpse we understand why: entire hillsides are subsumed in a whitewash of calcium in which the mineral-rich water pools in one terrace, overflows, and spills to the terrace below. Stalactites memorialize the ooze from one pool to the next ...
Pamakaule, Turkey stevecori... the bowel conversations, the 'Beach', the people and mostly the sight of Jo using the blue bucket! We will not miss..... The *****, 15 hour days on the truck, the regiment schedule!, bread, the cold and the *****! We have covered 5700 Kms by truck, Avoided 17 carpet salesmen, **** through a needle more than once - or twice - or three times for that matter! Weve consumed a fair load of bread and ...
Istanbul, Turkey antandrel... My only idea is that I want to stay somewhere between the Acropolis and the Asclepsion. Both are part of the ancient city of Pergamum. Both are outside of town on opposite sides of Bergama. I wandered into the nearest place. 'Sprechen Sie Deutsche?' says the lady. 'Um, kleine!' I say, with the thumb and forefinger indicating the international symbol for small. Then I have to explain I am from Australia (Australia) and not Austria (Osterreich). Somehow I am an ...
Bergama, Turkey adrianmurray... only by Alexandria. The people of Pergamum were famous for inventing goat skin parchment to rival the papyrus monopoly of Alexandria... that is, until Marc Antony took all the writings from Pergamum, made a gift of them to Cleopatra, and the library at Alexandria was destroyed during the battle of Actium in 31 BC. But that is neither here nor there. --Troy, the city of legend and pseudo-site of a Brad Pitt movie... was not as big as I thought it would be.
N/A, Turkey jaredwall... smoke signals asking for help. they couldnt see it for all the smoke. crazy!! i started to feel a little panicky at one point. i coulndt breathe!! must we have two cigarrettes after EVERY course? and good lord knows the turkish meal has about a 1000 courses. enough complaining. during my LCSW training i have been learning a lot about transference. i think a great mechanism to get an alternative method of transference is to put someone ...
Balikesir, Turkey karensheets... lots of nervous laughter and if they knew english, they sure kept it a good secret. one class we visited was watching The Last Samari with Tom Cruise. i drew a picture of the US and pointed out where we lived. "Ahhh! Kentucky Fried Chicken!!" i have had two or three people ask me already why Americans are so obsese. i soon learned as the eyes glazed over that soapbox speeches go over just as well here as they do at home. ý prefer not to say my speech was a ...
