... low especially in the valleys, sometimes high rising to 750 metres. The pilot asked who was having their first flight and added it was his too! Of course not. It was so good to see where we had walked and walked, got lost, and where we made our little discoveries of "churches" and caves. It was worthwhile to get the bird's eye view. ... at the border crossing, all the passengers had to go into the restaurant car where the police had set up an immigration checkpoint. My passport was duly stamped by a uniformed cop, and then I had to sit down for some questions with a baby-faced (yet grey-haired) bloke in a trenchcoat. He spoke very softly, so you had to lean right forward to hear him, and he smiled the entire time. Not a nice smile, more of a sharky, narrow-eyed grin. He creeped the hell out of me. ...

... amazing pics. Meanwhile, here we sit with no clothes, no toiletries (Vulcan stopped and bought us some toothbrushes!) but the hotel staff are as good as anyone, anywhere. So our strategy is to wait for bags to arrive at some stage but if they don't, we will wear the same clothes until the local cats and dogs start following us around. Stay tuned...........but first a quick word from Digby.

... Turkish style coffee. Tyler Helmuth suggested I try a cup from Mandabatmaz, a café known for it’s THICK coffee. While the coffee was thick and without a doubt the best Turkish coffee I’ve had, I still don’t think I’ll go back for another cup.

I’m writing this a day before we hit 6 months on the road, time flies when you’re having fun I guess.

Balloons all around

Out the door promptly, 24 of our group did the balloon ride and despite the numbers I was really excited, no chance to feel nervous. It's a huge operation, we could see a few balloons in the air already despite it being quite dark, so they probably missed seeing a lot of the area. We watched the balloon being blown up which seemed to go smoothly, then all 24 of us scrambled into the basket which was funny watching others scale the sides but I can assure you was a ...
