    - a belief that they are the fires that lit the first Olympic torch - after all, Mount Olympos is just up the road (The Greeks dispute that one)
    - to the scientific explanation of gases escaping from metamorphic rock.
Whichever way you look at it, the fact that the fires have burnt for eons is "magic" and we're lucky to have seen it before the gas runs out.

Cirali is a teeny tiny one gravelly road town down in a jungly area near the sea. There is a long pebble beach with the most pristine water that I won't even describe bercause you'd suffer a jealousy aneurism.  To get here, you need to take a mini bus (I found a single seat, so no man problems this time!) to a place on the side of the road where a dolmus (a small local bus) sits waiting for enough people for it to be worth the drive down the hill ...

When we arrived the flames, although an interesting phenomenon were a bit like sitting around campfires. Still, glad we saw it.

Received more sad news. Our beautiful pet pooch, Ziggy has passed away. The house won't be the same without her.

... but everyone ended up staying longer than planned. After most of the people left, I planned on spending just one more day and then taking off. But then I met someone else who I went to the beach with and grabbed a drink with, so no flames that night (for some reason I'm strangely susceptible to blonde persuasion). The next day (I think, we did have a 15 minute argument one day before we agreed it was a Tuesday) I was just going to take off, but my friend ...
