... with a blue light and a orange visa over our masks and all of the coral underwater lit up illuminous as well as some of the fish, it was absolutely amazing!! I'm so glad I did it, it was a really good experience!! In the days when we weren't scuba diving, we literally just sunbathed by the beach and by the pool which was totally beautiful, and went on a snorkelling trip as well so we could see all three gili Islands! We made friends with people we met on the boat ...

... culture is on display much of it hides behind walls, and it is doubtful the hordes would care much, preferring to party at the innumerable nightclubs and lounge or by the infinity pool with a frosty one.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

There are beaches on Bali of course but these are often the black sand variety - one only has to gaze upon its five volcanos to connect those dots- or are very difficult to access. Upscale development ...

... us. This island is still quite obviously very poor and people have to work very hard to make a living, but everyone seems very happy. There is lots of enthusiastic waving and people very keen to practice their English. People were swimming, fishing and bathing in the large drainage ditches which were on either side of the road, and in every open field you could see children flying beautiful hand made kites.

... the other and it was all pretty horrible but we managed to find a nice bar down by the point (opposite end to the Sheraton) so pulled up a pew, ordered some beers, a pizza and watched the sun go down. ... One hill is totally covered in huts where they break the stone and put it in man made washing machines to sieve the gold out. Indonesia is at the moment on a gold high with prices soaring so these guys are working 24/7 , how long they will be able to continue who knows as the Government is pretty fickle.
The people here are great and the kids just shout hello and wave all the time, Jo tells me to keep both hands on the steering ...
