Granna is famous for two things: as the home of a red and white stick candy known as peppermint rock and as the birthplace of explorer Salomon August Andree who died in an attempt to reach the North Pole by balloon. A statue of candy-maker Amalia Eriksson in the park and a large wooden balloon at the entrance to town mark these events.

Hello everyone! Thought I would quickly do an update, since we have not checked in, ion a while. We are fully immersed in Sweden. We had a lovely stay in Motala with our friend's Niclas's parents and now have arrived in Stockholm, where we will be until our return home. I will post some more pictures and some stories in a while!
