    ... and places to eat. Went for a little walk along the river and back, had lunch then lined up to get back up the railway. People watching is a great pastime here. Quite disturbing the number of grossly overweight people, number of infirm, including young ones and non active people. Virtually every second person has one or two dogs and they are allowed everywhere, including in restaurants. They had to pay £1 to take each one up the railway. There were three dogs on our trip ...

    ... in America. Next drove along back roads to Stoke and Newton Ferris both places little villages tucked away amongst the hills. Continued on to the pretty town of Modbury, through Kingsbridge and the very small village of Buckland Tout Sands ( photo of yellow thatched cottage).     ... Did a short walk up to a rocky outcrop to get a feel for the area. Shared the walk with sheep and Dartmoor ponies. Great views on such a lovely sunny day, but could easily imagine what it would be like on a cold, misty day when you could easily get disoriented.
