... hostel and school, family run. Also gay hang out and hosts easy pub quiz every Wednesday and live music every Friday, Saturday nights. Upstairs is coup detat, very trendy bar with super view Comsei comsaj is the yummiest, get a fajita wrap for 6000LL Pretty area around the back of walk from gemmayze to down town, Parisian St Nicholas steps are beautiful. ... friend Hanan (again super nice) took us for an awesome dinner in a new port area full of restaurants in Beirut. Tania paid for us as "we are guests", too nice!! We grabbed some Lebanese ice cream for dessert, I have a new love - custard apple ice cream. After a good feed we were beat from a long day so we hit the hay.

For the next week we would be staying in a wonderful home, with fabulous people. We were truly being spoilt!!

... beer places had shisha and none of the shisha places were womanless bars. How could this be? They sound like such a natural mix.

... when the Iron Curtain disappeared and witnessing people experience freedom for the first time in many of their lives. My stay in Lebanon is almost at an end and I must now prepare myself for the next big adventure - Russia. I already have my visa which I obtained here at their Beirut embassy by telling a few jokes with the staff. Result - I got a visa in record time for a quarter of the price. I have no idea how that happened but it only shows that by being nice ...

... I had offended him......"this is Lebanese hospitality, get used to it."

So without anymore mention of money we arrived at out hotel after a quick guided tour of Beirut, a list of things to do in Lebanon and an invitation for a beer later that night....all this from a man who we knew nothing of just a few hours earlier.
