... isn't there - we travel on a Sunday and the train doesn't go all the way to Ravenglass. So I purchased the tix anyway and I'll have to look into how to get to Ravenglass on the Sunday - possibly by bus or something. Who knows. We got to Waterloo on the Metro this morning without incident which was a good thing. We walked the wrong way initially and then eventually found the Bicycle Tour company. We fitted the kids out with bikes and ...
London, England, United Kingdom masonsineurope... if we are bringing a mini laptop to do our blogs en route, that decision still has to be made. So our blog might not be updated as often or as long and beside the geek in me found out that the hard drive will probably crash at altitudes above 4000m and since we are going up to about 5200 will have to think about it. Speaking of altitude.. When we booked the ...
London, United Kingdom leonnatmckenna... to come back, if only to go there again. I don't know how to describe it exactly. It just inspired me so much. I could have stayed there fo years. The ruins of a medieval church on the side of the hill didn't hurt... at all. Magnificent! Then it was souvenir shopping and back home to the hostel we went, ready for Inverness the next morning. We caught a bus from the bus station all the way up to Inverness, and I managed to feel travelsick pretty ...
London, England, United Kingdom french_rhubarb... on. I slept for about 4 hours on the way to Bangkok and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment for the remainder. Deutsch and Mich hardly slept on this flight cos they thought they'd be jetlagged, personally I'd prefer to have the extra hours of sleep no matter what. And if Michelle says "Danish I'm so excited" 1 more time I might just have to kill her with her own pillow. At Bangkok I found a little keyring with a coloured elephant image saying "Thailand", I'd like to collect 1 thing ...
London, England, United Kingdom danesternSo today i took the train into Victoria and meet Craig (whom id never met) at the train station and from there we caught the tube out to Cannons Park (10 mins from Wembley) I meet 2 out of 10 flat mates and we started drinking. Later we headed into Leicester Square in the city. It was awesome at night! We went to a few different bars, mainly the ones that handed out tokens for a free shot! We caught the last tube home at 1am and crashed out. Was a good into to a small part of the city!
Wembley, England, United Kingdom amygzTuesday, 29 July 30, 2008 - Today we walked from the Ritz to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guards ceremony. It was full of ritual, with a band and honor guards and lots of marching. The uniforms were striking, and we all agreed it would be hard to stand watch for two hours without moving a muscle! We then walked back over to Big Ben for another look, and to Westminster Abby. After that, the girls went back to the hotel to rest while the guys went ...
London, United Kingdom kansassharps... beautiful, the horrendously ugly. It's all there clamouring for your attention. I took Carsten to Cyberdog - a shop full of over-the-top clubbing attire for the electronic music devotees of this world, run by scantily-clad women in PVC outfits and a guy with fluorescent yellow measuring tape stuck to his shaved head. This shop is eccentricity personified, and a well-loved destination by everyone I've ever taken there. We moseyed around the rest of The ...
London, United Kingdom bobsonthegreat... and bussle of Lima airport. On arrival I'm picked up, as arranged, by a very smiley taxi driver holding the trusted Gecko's sign. He grabs my bag and takes me to the taxi, where he introduces me to his 4 mates!!! They're all very friendly, I get introductions and they try to engage me in conversation. Obviously due to my wonderful grip on the Spanish language I fail to make out anything they're telling me & ...
London, United Kingdom minifiSora and I left late Friday night (about 11pm) and finally arrived in Joburg today (Sunday morning) at about 7:30am. We stopped over in London for about 8 hours and had a great time quickly seeing some of the sights: Trafalger Square, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster and the Eye. And I was very excited because we were lucky enough to be in London for the starting weekend of The Tour de France so we got ...
Johannesburg, South Africa lingchick... Went to the pictures too - saw The Queen and tried to work out why any Polish person would be interested, and also another film - what was it? Oh yes, a film about Beethoven. Thankfully all movies are shown in their original languages, with Polish subtitles if required. This is better than the thing I saw for the first time ever which was US television, not dubbed or subtitled, but described. Yes, one voice talking over the show and describing what ...
