... is 3,883 metres or 12,739 feet high and this year on August 15th is the 150th anniversary of its first ascent. Every night at 9.30, 10.00 and 10.30pm skiers have been lighting different ski paths up the Matterhorn and it looks beautiful. We are so proud of ourselves for making the trek up the mountain and actually walking outside AND taking some of the most amazing photos. We hope you enjoy them! :) Early dinner tonight at the hotel, pack and very early start ...

The slope conditions were best described as 'bulletproof' as it had melted yesterday but not seen the sun today. We got on fine until JJ tried to point out where he fell and swung across towards me. Rather than fall I bailed out and told JJ to ski down to me on the slope. JJ got on fine, I got on less so. The off-piste traverse was a bit crunchy and ...

... the base of the T-bar. Off we set with John in front, JJ in the middle and me behind. Near the top of the T-bar JJ caught an edge and fell over. Unfortunately the T-bar caught in his jacket or back protector and he was dragged up the steepest part of the tow. The operator was not watching as JJ covered more than 50m of track and the 20m of the top before the T-bar was stopped. I walked up to him and he was clearly shaken and a little grazed across his stomach. The people behind us on ...

... and the runs at the top were in great condition so we enjoyed cutting fresh tracks on corduroy. It is a great sound as we skied and were able to listen to the buzzing sound of skis over the tiny pisted ridges and being able to look back at our runs. It was so good we did it again! We tried to complete the run a third time but the T-bar had stopped working and showed no sign of starting and the cloud had closed in.

This made the decision for us to ski towards ...
