... from the fire brigade playing the last post to remember the commonwealth soldiers that passed through the gate on their way to the Western Front with thousands never to return. The people of Belgium hold Australians in very high regard and everywhere you go they make you feel welcome.

Tonight we stayed in Lille, France and we are off to explore the WW1 memorials in the morning.

And I would walk 500 miles.....

... was sad! But never mind, all part of our adventure we said and headed off to find the previously mentioned restaurant.
So. The only way we could remember where the restaurant was involved us retracing our steps from the mornings walk. We went back to the spot where we ate the waffles, past the boat launching wharf, past the fish markets, turn left over the bridge toward the red house that was red because it was painted with bulls blood (this we learned on the cruise) ...

... quaint & beautiful old town (I think she has rated it alongside Tallin & Bergen, just ahead of Helsinki & Stockholm).

Anyway at 5:15pm, leave we did, & rode the 3 hour drive back to Amsterdam. Fortunately, the bus dropped us near our tram stop, so as we approached a No.25 Tram was there, so we hopped aboard & were back in our hotel by 9pm.
