... go full speed down cobblestone streets, they don't signal their turns and they have the right of way. This can be very intimidating for lowly tourists who don't know which way to look when crossing the street. Guenther saved my hiny a couple of times. Some of the 'bikers' will sound their bell, but most don't. You hope you can hear the rattle of a fender for some warning. Not for the faint of heart. Check out the pictures for more house boats.

... we wind around the canals it became a tad obvious that the tourists were decked head to toe in oranje however many locals only had the odd item of clothing on. Many dogs are decorated in their orange for the festival occasion too. Out in the parks locals had marked out their stall area in chalk and were selling their old junk, food and even 'compliments for €0.50'.
