We had previously seen the Castelo do Tavira, but only during a 10-minute rest stop along the route of Tavira's "cheesy" tourist train--which we had ridden early in our stay in Tavira to get a quick overview of the town. Ten minutes is definitely not enough time to be able to fully appreciate the castle's beauty. You will also want to have time to explore the garden, the walls, and ancient nooks and crannies.
