Huatulco - Last Destination on the Pacific Coast

... of nature are numerous. Why else would they have created a national park along the coast here?

On the downside, it is isolated, beaches are not within walking distance (except for maybe Santa Cruz), it has very limited shopping and it is far away from the nearest large city – Oaxaca (six hours by bus).

Bahias de Huatulco is the last Mexican resort area on the Pacific coast and that is reflected in the number of tourists ...

Hola

Whoo hoo....the day has finally arrived, we head south for some fun in the sun in Mexico:) It was an unexpected start to the day I´ll give you that, Smitty came crashing through the door at 3.30am and woke me from my peaceful slumber with a big wet tequila and cigar ridden kiss! I think he was going for the trifecta - alcohol, gambling and sex - but even though he´s the sexy beast that he is, he wreaked of ¨sin¨so I had to politely refuse his third request. In a desperate ...

Laxing out on the coast

... Hate that. Spent some time sitting on the beach contemplating my failure, but was happy to see that not many others got out past the breakers either & we both got a touch of sunburn. Another good day on the beach though! Becs 3/5: Entertainment day for me. Mark decided to take on the powerful surf with his boogie board. Unfortunately he couldn´t hire and flippers so had to rely on purely man power to get ...

... this, but I'm riding high on the power that is - THE WRITTEN WORD. Wow I think I need a drink. Ok, so one of the days there we did mosey on up to Mazunte, actually WALKED which we were flabbergasted about too ( though it only took about 15 minutes), and it seemed a little too cool for school when we sat for a drink so instead of looking for a room for one night we turned up our noses and poshed off to see the turtle museum. BEST DAY EVER ...

Interdiction ...

... bus as them. As we waited in the bus station Mariosh and I watched the division finals soccer game between the Pumas and Atlante in Cancun. It was an extremely exciting game that went to extra time, and unfortunately we didn't get to see the end because our bus was leaving. It's probably better that we missed the end because the Pumas lost, which is who we were rooting for. Sorry Alfonso... We had been toying with the idea of going home for ...

Where's My Digit?

... offered to take me and my gerry cans to get diesel, then bring me back, but he told me he knows a better place to anchor. By then, I had gotten my anchor unfouled, and he had me anchor next to the pangas in a sea canyon, 100 feet deep. Now, I should theoretically pay out 500 feet of line, which is all I have (250 of chain and 250 of line), but since it is only for an hour, I try to keep just 250 of chain, partly because if I swing, I either swing into rocks and serious ...

¡Me encanta la playa!

... to Chiapas, a beautiful state with lush jungles, river boat rides and tons of history to see. Some people are going to relax at the beach for the week, taking advantage of the time to sunbathe, swim, possibly snorkle and just lay low for a week. I´m still trying to decide. So if you have an opinion, send it my way! They both sound good! We went on another excursion today to Monte Alban, which was created by the Zapotec people around 800 BC. It is breathetaking...the ...

Lifes a beach!

... the Lagoon despite all feeling a bit rough. When we got there we hired out some Kayaks and paddled off into the middle of the Lagoon and only realised once we were there that we were the only people without life jackets!! We shared a kayak but getting it to go where we wanted it to proved a little more difficult than first thought, i.e. John got very angry at Kerry´s lack of enthusiasm, direction, effort and general whinging!!! We somehow managed to get back ...

... by the violent waves on the one occasion we ventured into the deceptively inviting water. I know we missed a bunch of the sights and activities, but at our old age we were more than content with just lying on our ever-expanding rears and watching the waves crash at our feet while sipping on a cold Negra Modelo, eating a fruit cocktail, reading a good book (recommend "The Five People You Will Meet in Heaven" (or alternatively Cosmo and ...
