Montenegro, the newest country in the world

... smoker-friendly than the USA in general, but Montenegro was even more extreme than the other European countries we’d been to. Employees were smoking while working (including the train ticket lady), people would light up a cigarette right next to you without even thinking about consideration, and people on the train were even smoking (ignoring the no-smoking symbols). It was so weird and so terrible. I’m sure we smelt ...

Europe's Ugliest Capital!!!

... like plain surrounded by tall mountains.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I only took a few since a picture tells a thousand words and no need to burn up batteries taking more of the same. But you know what...these people make do with what they have and keep their homes held together. A home is a home no matter what it looks like and these decrepit highrises are probably beautiful to them since they are theirs.
I will try hitchhiking direction albania, avoiding the kosovo, although i heard a lot of people talking very good about it.. But i prefer seaside anyway, and the coast of albania is sandy and cute, so that will be the route (probably)...

cu

NOT AS CALMING AS A BLACK MOUNTAIN LAKE

... mountains stretched up and away from the crazy, local drivers, or leaned over the river. My one night in Black Mountain was spent in nature. I camped in Lake Biograd's National Park. Yellow-green, dark-green, and green-green-green forest crowded around a lake 3300 feet above sea level. I pushed myself through the warmbody-swallowing water, which gave me a happy zap better than that of any drug. This was what I lived for! The lake calmed me ...

What It's Like to Chill with the Most Ruthless Men

... in either in Serbia and Montenegro. To be safe I split the five thousand dollars we had between Darko and I. I held onto half and he the other. One of my favorite stories I tell people of my trip is how I swam with my money throughout the trip; it made me feel secure always keeping some cash on me at all times; even when I was swimming a quarter mile out in the Adriatic sea. Darko told me not to; I did anyway. Owing to that, the cash I held was often wet. One particular time we ...

Pissed up in Podgorica (too much free beer)

... hadn't. Every ****** little village in Romania seems to have one, but not this capital city. I decided securing one should be my first priority- some people like to just wander cities and get lost in them, those people are idiots, who wants to be lost?. Luckily I spotted "Hotel Europa" just around the corner from the train station. I quickly stormed the reception area and asked the bored, yet quite sexy, receptionist, Svetlana ...

Sun&Beaches in Montenegro - Budva riviera

Drobni beach is a favorite vacation area of many people. Kamenovo beach Kamenovo beach is the first one in the succession of about 16 smaller beaches of Budva Riviera. It is situated between Becici and Przno. The beach and the sea bottom are ...

... pointing to my thigh). Then from the window above, her son agrees and ushers us into the smokeshed. In this 4 x 4 ft shed, there were hanging pig legs, reddish brown smoked, two barrels of homemade red wine, and a scale. With immaculate precision he cuts superthin slices of ham with a big knife onto the scale. He also let us try his wine which Homer drank hungrily. Okay last stop, Bay of Kotor. The serpentine roads wind the mountain ("ladder ...

Refurendum Success!

... because there was a 2 mile long line of cars in both directions. Montenegro had a great feel about it. It was very cheap, the people were in GREAT spirits, having just succeeded from Serbia, and the countryside was beautiful. We hung out at the beach city of Ulcinj for a day and a half, doing the beach thang and walking around the cliff-top castle-city... then went to Kotor to meet Greg. Next stop, Croatia!

Where the hell is Montenegro

... the tourists, and being that we were the only tourists to get off of the bus, we were nabbed and led away. The room was not in town, and it was quite ****, but we were in Kotor, so we walked into town to have a look around. It´s another walled city, Venetian, like Korcula, we had a small look, and then we looked up, because going up both sides of the mountain were more walls. This was the great wall of Kotor !!!!! And they led all the way up to ...
