There are many Holocaust museums and memorials around the world, but few if any can match the impact and poignancy of Berlin's Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. For it was in Berlin that the industrial scale extermination of millions of Jews (11 million was the intended number) was hatched, planned and systematically documented.

We visited several memorials to groups murdered by the Nazis. They were all quite stark and
very moving, and captured so well the stark terror and oppression of the Nazi years. The Memorial to the Murdered Jews is especially moving. It is hard to describe, but it covers a very large area; I’m sure it would take 15 minutes to walk around the perimeter. I hope the picture ...
