      Not for families

Quite an unsuitable place for a family. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the pullout couch is essentially a sheet on top of springs that were saggy and painful to sleep on. It is located right beside a strip-club in Sydney's King's Cross area.

Got up at 6.15am to have breakfast and get a taxi to the airport for our flight at 9.20am. For once I actually thought the hot food on the plane smelt and tasted good! (Was a fresh scrambled egg sandwich). Arrived in Sydney on time at 12.20. Got one train to Central station then found out that the second train we needed to get was having some …

We were so excited to get here! The views of the city were beautiful as we circled for our landing, and when we stepped out the warmth of the sun was so welcome. We were driven by a crazy shuttle to our hotel in Potts Point, in Kings Cross (which is not at all as Harry Potter-ish as it sounds …

... I did finally see him again I made him god-parent to my daughter Jessie-Mae. I remember thinking at the time: “That should fix him” – and sure enough I was right. Jack stopped seeing me all together for a while. If I saw
him at all it was a coincidence, Mick too for that matter. But I managed to put enough positive Ice-O-Topes out there into the atmosphere (that’s a Vancouver hockey team reference for my friend Mike Mowatt) and eventually ran ...

... the city and we walked around for hours. Our first stop was Luna Park, which is a very old fairground area by the Sydney Harbor Bridge. It brought out the little kid in me seeing all the fun little fair rides and children having a blast. Next, we decided to walk across the Harbor Bridge! Being on the bridge gave us a perfect view of the Harbor and the Opera House. After making our way across it began to rain pretty heavy. We went ...

... from complete skint-hood mainly by the kindness of family and friends – Holly and Brent let us stay for two weeks while we struggled to find the apartment we’d planned to rent, and we stayed a further week with Carol and Jack, friends of Ned’s family, on the North Shore. They may yet rescue us again when the lease on this flat ends next week and we are homeless once more.
