... We all noticed the lack of traffic laws in Europe, but I can honestly say being in a car was even scarier. There are traffic circles like in the Sates, but in Belgium they are about six lanes wide with no painted lines. In fact, there are no painted lines anywhere that I noticed on the streets.

I eventually got back to the bus where the bus driver was incredibly nice and accomodating. I slept in the back and he gave me lots of water ...

... I ordered shrimp croquettes, Flemish stew and frites and my partner ordered a huge bucket of mussels and frites. Both came with generous sized beers and portions. Dinner was €55 ($79) for the two of us. It was then I realized that we are no longer in Spain. Suprisingly, the food was actually good. Really good. ... began to see freeway guide signs for "Ghent" which the Sixt man told me would get me started for Normandy. I figured I would stop and buy a road atlas once out on the open road somewhere. But anxious to get out of the urban area and onto a motorway and headed in the right direction, I set sail for Ghent. Antwerp probably would have been a good place to spend a day or two sightseeing... but Normandy was calling.
