... we took it easy, but did manage a game of beach twister in the evening. I had the most incredible time, but returned to the sala de emergencias this morning to the usual **** which Domincans consider 'an emergency'.
Caught a glimpse of the news yesterday and it says that a hurricane is heading our way. Perhaps the disaster medicine section of my elective may begin....
... but man it was hot. We walked thugh a street market to the town but it's all souvenir shops, not an Internet cafe in sight! We headed back after a while and halfway back we felt a few light spots of rain then two minutes later fat rain, loads of fat rain, which was actually quite refreshing. The locals thought we were mad but we carried on regardless, lost a few dollars to the kids and arrived at the tender looking like drowned ...

arrived just as they were making ready to begin a game! They paired me with
Carl who had never played before and over the course of perhaps a couple
hours while we played I tutored him. Carl was a quick study and I think we
made a good team even though we didn't win. It didn't matter to me, I was
just drunk on the good vibe thrilled to be part of the group.

A couple of different volunteers had basically booked up entire hotels
there in La Galera. I had thrown my lot in with one of them, Charles, only
to find when I ...
... go. Without so much as asking for a credit card they accept our voucher and give us a room key. 10pm. We order room service (surprisingly good), and set our 4:30am wake-up call.
Heading to the Dominican. Apart from getting up early, day 2 or travel goes fairly well. We have a lot of luggage to haul around, but after the first day, no real complaints.
Once again, the boy is good on the airplane…he doesn’t sleep much on the plane ...
