A lesson to be learned in Skiathos

... we'll retire on one of these islands and set up a Greek phrase language school. Sadly, on Skiathos we no longer rub shoulders with Greeks on the beach but instead put up with lots of Brits, Italians, Russians, Italians and Swedes (although they're not too bad, especially the topless ones). We do however spot the local Greeks heading down to the waters as it gets cooler later in the day. All shapes and sizes, never bashful to wear bikinis ( even women in their 80s sport ...

A night in Volos

... looked a bit young which is exactly why Phil dragged her by the arm into, the bar. Of course she had forgotten that while the rest of us get older Phil stays young . It turned out to be a great night as we drank and solved the problems of the world with our young new Greek friends. The alarm the next morning, abruptly reminding us of our run was most unwelcome. After not a great night of sleep ... A large breakfast, much needed for Parker. Taxi comes in a few to take us to airport. Another Ryan Air flight. Up and down no problems... Off we go to Rothenburg! Ends up being a wonderful evening! A quick stop at a beergarden for a couple beers and a traditional dish of potato noodles with saurcrout , bacon bits and gravy. A nice wall around town, Old Town Historic Walk, Night Watchman's Tour, Walk the Wall .... Off to bed in down comforters and ...

Long day of traveling

... train ride to Volos we took a taxi to our hotel. We decided to walk around outside by the beach for about 45 minutes. Our room currently does not have any air conditioning which is very brutal. I have not been very impressed with Greece at all on this trip. The transportation system in terrible and the cities are very dirty and filled with cats. I am more that ready to finish our trip and go to Deutcheland ...

Markets, gyros and the Acropolis

Day 2 Athens Greece (July 3) Completely missed this out of yesterday's blog - we visited the Acropolis! Such amazing views of the city and so much history. It's awesome to think that I'm in a place where some pretty serious stuff has happened. New Zealand - altho I love it dearly - just doesn't have this kind of history. Today we explored Athens after breakfast at the hostel, which was hard boiled eggs in bread rolls. It was free, and as it turned out exactly what I needed for ...
