... tower houses up on hill we were passing. Checked out a cemetery up near the tower houses - was full of little houses that had the crypts inside.
Drive down to the tip was just breathtaking scenery, rugged mountains, plungig down into the sea below. Bit sad at the end as this represented the further point on the trip - it's all homeward bound now.
Drove back up to Gythio, and spent the night in a restaurant carpark, right on the water ...
... is salty so you float easily, but it doesn't dry your skin out. Truly beautiful to swim in. I was determined to eat octopus today, and Sam accidentally ordered the sea food dish instead of the octopus. It was a huge plate of the best sea food we have had in ages! ... and it was all very flustering and disarming as flustering and disarming things go and so, not just regardless of all of the aforementioned, but, likely in large part because it, the next few days were, through my happy, sleepy haze, totally, again, magical. Diving off the rocky portello into the ocean for sunrise and a special midnight swim. Walking up to the old city at the top of the rock and having the chance to tour the inside of Monemvasia’s Agia ...
... to the ship we came across a guy who was inviting people into his restaurant. I looked around and he looked the spitting image of my brother Darin. I even had my photo with him and he was telling all his friends I was his sister.
This night at the bar I had a 'Tiquila Sunrise ' cocktail then went to the onboard shop to chock up on cold stuff as I caught a cold then went to look at photos taken professionally of us on ...
... HOW TO COME HERE:
From Athens is approximately 3 hours.
If you are in Sparta (20 minute drive from
here) it is advisable to visit Mystras first and then come here to spend the
entire afternoon…swim first and then go for some fish and ouzo.
Don’t miss visiting the Caves of Diros which is
another interesting place to visit ….only a 30 minute drive from here as well.
