King Town Hotel Nha Trang

Steve and me arrived in Nha Trang, the beach bum destination for backpackers in Vietnam. We arrived at the bus travel agency office, as I knew I had a day to kill in Nha Trang I decided to take a boat tour around the surrounding islands of Nha Trang. ... traffic at all. even flights were diverted or canceled. So what to do?? At least the weather clearde up, so we rented another scooter for the day and went up North of Nha Trang. Beuatifull scooter ride and we saw a lot of how nice Vietnam is. Private beaches, and again nice people. Had a beer on a local fisher´s beach, where they grill the fish right out of the sea on your plate as the fish is still " Flippin & Floppin" No a good day mixed with the bad day this ...

well well, how happy am i as i re-enter sunnyville! The rain hits this place in the late afternoon, so if you don't spend the night partying and get up early you can witness some 36 degree heat! happy days!!!
after a little sunburn the first day, even with my factor 15, i'm a little distressed and worry i'm not going to reach my suntan quota by the end of the week!!!! ha!
This town is gorgeous, the sun, the warm and clear sea, the beach and the people ...

... which is only 14 meters long -- why?). That said, the water is much calmer than in Mui Ne, making it far more appealing to swim and laze in the water... which we did lots of.

My dad remembered Nha Trang very fondly from his time here during the war, so it was another spot for him to revisit. He told us one of those unbelievable coincidence stories about his favorite seafood restaurant from that time. It was a ...

Another day another self drive bike tour. I've finished with the diving and have passed my advanced course. Now I can start sightseeing in Nha Trang.

... known for sightseeing, but much more as abeach resort. Is definitely quieter than Hanoi, and busier than Hoi An, but is very, very touristy and isn't that great to just walk around. Think Marbella, sort of. Just in Vietnam. The beach though is quite nice.

Hotel told us we should taxi it to the Po Nagar Cham Towers, our first stop, and told us it should only cost around 20,000 Dong. 40,000 Dong later we arrived ...

... in part gave a tantalising suggestion of what might have been, or rather what was, once upon a time. I wonder how much more impressive Vietnam would look without the American intervention...



The rain was off & on, but it couldn't really detract from the sights around us.
