... thought it would..... Anyway we left for the 3 day/2 night Mekong Delta tour via bus booked through the Singh Cafe (Pham Ngu Lao District)..... exceptionally reasonable at $110AUD for the two of us. The Mekong River (River of Nine Dragons) originates high in the Tibetian Plateau and flows 4,500km through Laos, along the Laos/Thailand border, through Cambodia and Vietnam to the ...
Cai Be, Vinh Long and Chau Doc, Vietnam odells... krutivad seda giidiga vaheldumisi kord valjemaks, kord vaiksemaks. Raadiost tuleb tund aega järjest ainult Celine Dijoni, ma ei teadnudki varem, et tal üldse nii palju laule on, teadsin tervelt kolme. Aina vaan viisastuu... Jalgarataste selga istume suure taidega peetud lahingu auks püstitatud monumendi juures. Muidugi ei ole rattad mingi super-luks, üle tee remondipoest saame vahendeid nii kummide pumpamiseks kui ka sadulate tõstmiseks. Kõik m ...
Mekongi delta, Vietnam nipitiri... the water ( fuddy duddy couples in another hut, phew ! ), not a sound all night cept the crickets, the plopping of the odd fish and cockerels crowing occassionally. We were on an island and wherever we walked the people would wave or come up to us saying "hello" or sometimes "how are you", with huge smiles on their faces. Couldn't believe how friendly they are and genuinely love to see us tourists. They have fruit trees everywhere of all sorts, like jack fruit, paw paw ...
Mekong Delta, Vietnam mary_fraser... a wing-span of 1.5 meters, they are pretty impressive to see. As we were there during the day, they were mostly asleep in the trees above us (watch out for guano!!) but there were some bats moving about. They certainly make a lot of shrieking noises, and they can climb about in the trees similar to a monkey. It was VERY cool to see them. Hopefully no nightmares tonight though!
Soc Trang, Vietnam twoelders... as much as possible. I took a bus trip down to My Tho and Ben Tre about a two hour ride from Ho Chi Minh City, it marks the start of the Mekong. We then got on a boat and traveled down the Mekong river visiting islands and watching the local industries such as honey, rice paper and coconut lollies. It was interesting and we got to taste test all the produce, even better. I have become totally addicted to certain Vietnamese food such as the coconut lollies ...
Soc Trang, Vietnam caroline.browne... onto Travelpod.... you can ignore flickr.. but only here 3 nights ... Shock of the day!!! the other night we went to a fish restaurant that has been in business in Hanoi since 1877 only serves 1 dish and gives you a sign in English saying that We hired a driver to take us to Bat Tran.... the main route was jammed so he went into the little back roads.. Thank goodness he knew his way around.... Amy said ...
Bat Trang, Vietnam llsadventures... Being the sort of people we are our first priority was lunch. A nice bowl of Pho (noodle soup) from a roadside cart seemed in order. Quite nice it was too but we couldn't quite work out what the white tubey floating things were. The menu wasn't much help as there wasn't one and the owner spoke no english. After some charades and pointing we eventually concluded they were chopped up intestines. Nice. Not. After eating so well in ...
Soc Trang, Vietnam candg... wasn't a town that we entered for the rest of Hong Kong, China, and Vietnam where we didn't look for this DVD. I swear it's a gross underestimation to say that we only searched 3,000 DVD's each before we finally began to lose steam. By the end of Vietnam we no longer searched every rack and box full of pirated DVDs since we could only handle so much rejection. We had been at the task for over a month by this time, even though we kept our eyes peeled, we were ...
Mekong Delta, Vietnam vasquez3... and Holly, the couple who spoke to us, his brother Phuc and his wife, plus a gaggle of other folks whose names I cant pronounce or remember. They wanted to know all about us and our travels. Then their dinner came. It was much different than our dinner. Being full already didn't seem to be an acceptable answer to their repeated advances to fill us with strange delicacies. Smoked salted fish with tamarind sauce (quite good), whole fish cooked in nuoc mam (fish sauce ...
Soc Trang, Vietnam epdevries... Christian and her English is very good. They want me to stay at their house so that I teach them English and they teach me Vietnamese. They have 4 sisters in the family and two younger boys. Went to Soc Trang late. Son didn't want me to stay at a hotel, so he brought me directly to my step dad's house. Lots of 'ghosts' but could have just been mosquitos. In the morning, step dad's grandchildren on his ...
