... queues at the Auguille du Midi. Phillip decided he didn't want to view the great heights of the mountain so I went alone, although I wasn't really alone because each gondola holds about 60 people. So up we went from about 1,000 metres at Chamonix to 3,842m. I know from my experiences in Peru last year that I'm not great at altitude so I wasn't surprised to feel really woozy and short of breath up there but it was really worth it. The views ...

Tomorrow will be easier because it has to be. About 100 miles to the schloss and therefore more time to find a campsite where hopefully we can relax for a couple of days. Unlike that sunny Sunday when the bike path was like a superhighway with lots of weekend riders, the ride under cloudy skies was more peaceful this time. From Constance on the southern side of the lake we then headed out around the larger of two lakes the Bodensee for Walhausen, where we took a ferry to Uberlingen on the northern side where we spent the night. ...

... to move on to our next stop after that.

We continued north to Meersberg, which was a pretty neat town that I'd like to come back and visit again when we have more time. Great location by the lake shore, with beautifully maintained half-timbered buildings, and an Altes Schloss that we decided to tour. This place really looked like an old castle, inside and out, and this tour was well worth it. Interesting exhibits on the inside, ...
