... is some sort of Expo going on in Milan and there are about 1 million more visitors than usual for this time of year and we have been told that it will probably cost about 40 euros to park for the day. So armed with all this info we head into the traffic. Its only about 50 miles from Lecco to Milan, and most of the drive, once away from the lake area, is large roads. Before we know it we are joining the crazy Italian drivers as they make their way into the city. ...

Then it was off to the Conference Centre by Metro to register for the conference and learn the way there from our hotel. The Centre is outside the main city centre in an area that has obviously developed with some daring modern architecture projects. The conference venue is a very impressive sculptured modern building complex surrounded by high rise apartments with unusual sculptural forms.

... we went into, one of which seemed to specialize in upscale recycled goods, which was great. Another square, kind of tucked away, had a collection of art shops and expensive clothing shops. I loved all the greenery on the balconies. We passed by restaurants, one of which had great recycled wood, with fading pain, chairs and tables. Each table had a small herb bush. Very cool.

We then walked back to the bigger ...
