... predicted rain so I wasn't too worried at this point. We had to drive through the mountains to get to Amasra, where out hotel was, and the roads were steep and winding but there were some amazing views.

Our day began an hour later than expected due to the late delivery of the rental car. Apparently he was stuck in traffic. At least we did get an upgrade to a slightly larger vehicle. It is quite a comfortable vehicle to drive. It is a manual but one falls back into shifting quite easily. We drove through both old and new Istanbul which was an interesting experience. ... around the shops there, we bought some Turkish delight, saffron & chocolate & fig flavoured as well as the rose kind. Its pretty damn good. Lunch was at a local restaurant and Gayle & I shared a folded spinach thing.
