Initially, one of the reason I chose to visit VangVieng was to ride in hot air balloon. I think it's the cheapest in the region. Unfortunately, I was there at the wrong season. They don't operate during dry season. Sob sob.
So, since we are lack of time, I chose to go halfday mountain trek and river tubing. Took a ride in songthaew, …
... including most hostels and we had nothing booked. Ooops! We decided to share a tuk tuk with a group of young travellers we had met on the bus journey. They had chosen to stay at the cheapest hostel in town but after spending the last 5 nights in our barely there bungalow in Don Det we needed comfort so gave the hostel a miss and went in search of a hotel of some sort. We found one, definitely not the Hilton but with an ensuite with hot water, air con, fridge, tv and a ...

Very sophisticated looking hotel. Reached there late. Hard to locate the hotel late at night (as their signboard werent lighted. Other shops around there were the same too). The hotel staffs were great. Informed them will be arriving late and to my relief, they did inform their security guard to wait for our arrival :-)
