... we learnt he hard way that the trains only run until 11pm haha so we had to get a taxi back to the hotel. We assumed the public transport would run the same time as shops - as the Malls are all open from 10am until 1am!!!!! But hey we got back in the end :-)

Well that was our last night in Dubai - off to London tomorrow (Gatwick) for just 1 night, then we'll be flying to Dubrovnik on Friday morning.

We had read that the Metro would not start running today until 1:30pm. This was not a problem. The older quarter of Bastakiya was on the opposite side of the Creek to where we were staying so this gave us the opportunity to sample the delights of an abra. The penny had not yet dropped!!

... platform in the world. It took me an hour to get down again and I managed to pick up some cake at Magnolia's, the bakery of Bloomingdale's as a desert. At home Inge made a wonderful meal and was waiting there with a friend I met before, so we had a great dinner. All by all, a worthy last (full) day in Dubai. More advice and directions from more staff and after an hour of walking around Dubai airport we finally found our way back to the arrivals area and there was no driver to be seen. As I was already not keen on leaving the airport without Ro I was ready to stay in the airport, thinking we now had sufficient reason not to be charged.
