... do have to walk about 500 metres. Unfortunately, there is virtually no tourist signage and it is a bit difficult to find. Once there, the plethora of jewelry shops is overwhelming as were the touts offering "genuine copy watches, copy bags". We took a detour into one of the side alleys to see more delights and that proved to be a mistake - getting hopelessly lost in the back streets !!

It also cut off what little breeze we were getting ...

... aircon brought respite and the food at the hotel was fantastic with the added bonus of live coverage of the World Cup for the first time in 11 days. Watched Brazil scrape through to the quarter finals. Visited the Burj Khalifa on day fifteen and at 828m and 163 floors it is very impressive close up. In all, Dubai does not feel like a holiday destination but somewhere you would stop over for a few days before heading onwards. ...

Nothing to report, caught the flight at 5.00 in the morning. Had a gluten free breakfast and I ate it rather greedily as I was hungry. Stupidly I didn't question the bread, not that they would have been able to tell me what was in it as there was no ingredient list. An hour later I was violently sick.
