Roya is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met. Breakfast was sizzling on the stove top when we woke up and Roya packed up a few things that we needed to hit the road. We said goodbye and headed toward Chicago. It took us about 6 hours to get there. It was all flat, but the scenery was pretty along the way. The sky was blue and littered with white clouds. All along the side of the highway were cornfields with ...

Afterwards, we had one more look at the bean before the special Christmas dinner in our hotel, one of the few restaurants ...

... Of course, we were then too late to book a shuttle back to the airport, despite the voucher, so we had to Cab it back at 5.00am and take the chance that AA will reimburse us. Eventually, we did get some breakfast in us, caught a 7.15 flight and we're here, exhausted, but here! After a kip, we ventured out into the streets and walked around a few blocks to acquaint ourselves with the neighbourhood. Found some historic buildings, Sass fell in love ...

... with prerecorded backing, magnificently, cool jazz...I love his sound as do many others who have collected around him sitting on the steps of the plaza, so Jonny goes home and I come out again to listen to this guy for another 1/2 hour. Tiny little Hispanic toddlers with their parents are transfixed; a black couple with two little girls prance across the pedestrian crossing holding their parents' hands and, as they wait to cross the next one, start bopping to ...
