    We were unexpectedly able to dock rather than tender in this port. After breakfast we headed up the path towards the cave and the monastery of St. John. I was a bit of a reluctant participant but Joey was walking regardless. I had spoken to the tour desk before leaving and they indicated that the path did not go all the way to Chora.     ... of Pedhi...a quiet fishing village. Here we enjoy a wonderful lunch of saganaki, Aubergine salad and beet root with garlic...all washed down with a litre of the house rose. What a shame our ferry was cancelled!
    We return by local bus - an experience in itself. Up the narrow winding streets, over the hill and there again is the wonderful view of Symi in the late afternoon light.
