... to the port where it was total chaos trying to work out which ferry went where. There were lots of ferries leaving regularly, back to Amalfi, Naples and other destinations but no signs showing where each ferry went. Instead, there were men walking up and down directing people to the right place. ... rain along with about 100,000 other people and ride about 50 k to hotel, only saving grace was that we had a tailwind and once we cranked it up we were no longer cold. This morning I woke up and decided that I really should go for a run so I ran up and up and up to one of the vantage points we had been at yesterday without the view due to the clouds. It was amazing as the day was clear and I could see Capri, Sorrento and nearly to Naples. It was so amazing and no one to share it with. Our apartment is a 150 sqm place, right in the heart of town. I'm guessing it is about 200 years old and smells a little dank, but I think it will do fine as a base.
Tomorrow we're off to Pompeii and if the weather holds out (it has been perfect every day we have been away), we will get to climb Mt Vesuvius and possibly hike to the crater..
... talk a minute more about the buses first. It is so great to not only experience the crazy mountain roads that are barely wide enough for one car and maybe a Vespa but then throw into the mix two buses coming at each other from both directions! Now, that is living on the edge! Today, one of the buses went so close to the other bus I swear there couldn't have been more than an inch of clearance. I love how the buses talk to each other ...
