    ... with a view of the slogging windsurfers and water all around us. It was actually kind of cold. Which reminds me that unlike our France and Italy trips when it was hot, it has been extremely pleasant. Except for that short period of rain, which had its own charm really, the temperature has been great. Not very sunny, which is a shame for pictures but great for biking! Next to the restaurant, there was a surf shop but it was tiny and empty.

    Today we explored Rotterdam. Truus and Rene took us on the Spido and us the Euromast. On the Spido we saw Truus work and many of Rotterdam's important landmarks including the Hotel New York, The Rotterdam cruise liner and the industrial section of Rotterdam. After the cruise we went up the Euromast which is an observational tower in Rotterdam that was opening in 1960 and is 185m high. From here we got spectacular 360degree views of the skyline.     We then went to the town of Zierikzee to have lunch. The fun part was that we got to have it in the garden of a family that Rolinka only recently met. The Douws had a neat little house and a lovely garden that included a pond with frogs and salamanders.
