When we chose to stay in this area of Catalonia, at the top of my 'must see' list was the museum in Figueres devoted to the Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. We looked inside the rooms that were inspired by the ocean and learned lots about why the curved windows were curved and the inspiration behind Gaudi's marvellous work. Having arrived here on Saturday, we felt it was high time we did some sightseeing. We ventured out yesterday afternoon in search of groceries and fuel but only managed the latter as supermarkets were closed. The date was not listed in our campsites of Spain handbook as being a public holiday. I did wonder if it was connected with the day before (Sunday) being elections, but never got to the bottom of it.
