... and limited to pastry or pizza at 5pm, but I found Brasserie La Loggia near the station that had a full menu all day.
Walked in to order a pasta and was amazed and delighted that they also had a display case full of Belgian, German, Dutch and other quality beers.
Had a La Trappe with my bolognese. Even though it's made in the Netherlands it was still a good tripel.
Was ready to go after that but ...
... ill once we made it to the station in Pisa. Not so fun.
Still, ok – we’re now in Pisa, right?, and so we should make the best of it. After getting a better map from the local tourist office, we walked from the Pisa train station to the Fiume Arno River (the same river that flows through Florence). During our walk, we saw this unique, teeny-tiny church named Santa Maria della Spina, which hung right on the edge of ...
... market (without the sampling) with lots of lovery deli's, cafe's and patisseries. Ofcourse we had to buy the local pastry called a buccellato which is kind of a cross between a biscuit and a fruit loaf... yummy with the morning coffee.
Before too long Kim pointed out her favorite bar from last time and pull me in to join her in a wine or 3. The tapas were as good as Kim had ...
Just realized those not on facebook haven't seen pictures from Pisa and Florence. No long recap of Anthony and I's weekend in Tuscany, for obvious reasons. Also note that "Anthony and Alison's Great Adventure" was like taking a knife.
Love you guys! :)
... hostel, recommended by my Fort friend Evin. It's right near the train station and we have our own private room again. This one has satellite TV and we have our own computer with free Internet! Amazing! And we're not paying very expensive either, for this place or the one in Riomaggiore. Anyways, Evin is living right next door! I logged onto Facebook and had a conversation with him, and when he found out we were here already, he told me to go to the window of the ...
Riomaggiore, Italian Riviera, Italy wagonmaker... narrow, there is no verge and there are guard rails that are just waiting to eat the paint off your car. If there isn't a guard rail there is a rock face or a sheer drop. You have to be careful if you do see a verge because the drop from the bitumen to the gravel can be high so you can't take it at any speed. I have noticed that every town has an ambulance station which has at least 1 to 6 ambulances sitting in their bays. I do not find ...
Riomaggiore, Italy dannyandkaren... the town some 5 hours after we started the hike. There was a bit of a celebration going on in the town and there was a big feast, with old blokes cooking little fish and fried bread - selling it to the crowds of people queuing up for it. It was a simple and cheap meal and not the rewarding restaurant lunch we had originally envisaged when we finished our hike, but we loved the simplicity of it, and the atmosphere (and the food) was great! (We later found out from a lady in Corniglia ...
Cinque Terre, Italy glenn_christie... Amsterdam, then back home. I'm most excited about the Greek Islands and the pictures I have seen from Croatia look like heaven. I'm going to miss traveling with these guys...especially Ryan. They are so much fun and we have become really close in these last 10 days. Hopefully I will find other like-minded people when I'm headed down the boot of Italy. Florence has about 10,000 American students studying there. I should be able met people there with out any problems. We'll see what happens next!
