There was a lot of pain that was a mix of fear, sadness, judgment and anger that came up seeing this all. After nearly 5hrs on rural roads and constant hooting, I arrived in Haridwar one of the seven most holy cities in Hinduism. My hotel is right on the water and has an amazing balcony overlooking the Ganges. The city is crowded with pilgrims who flock to bathe in the sacred waters of the goddess the Ganges or the Ganga as it is known in Hindi. The old town is a warren of narrow lanes filled with souvenir stalls, gift shops and ...

... was beautiful. It was nice to enjoy the crisp mountain air and nature at it's best. Staying in the snow covered forests was what like christmas day should look like - nice but freezing!!!

I did a day trek here and it is part of the pilgrim trek where they visit the Char gham temples. The views from top again are splendid again, mountains the surrounding foothill - it is a hard life
