... we all know this involves stairs, lifts and escalators. But, the is an air of resignation at our fate. Not much we can do in any case. This morning we left the apartment, as planned about 7.30am hauled our luggage downstairs, put the keys into the letter box as instructed, then made off to the metro. ... when we left. It had been a really nice experience. They had been very warm and welcoming and just like grandparents.

We wanted to spend some time visiting Chamonix. We were a bit disappointed the skies were still cloudy and it was raining a bit. We were hardly able to see the mountains at all. ... it meant we had a whole extra day of travel which we had not anticipated.

We got our tickets up to the top of the Schilthorn and headed in to catch the first gondola. There are 4 gondolas total on the way up and the views heading up were amazing. By this time all the fog and clouds had cleared so we could see really far. The first gondola was a short one up to Gimmelwald.
