This was the best hotel on our trip. We had a balcony (great for drying our washed clothes) but no view. This hotel had the only double bed on our whole trip. Overall is was impeccable but the shower curtain had some questionable stains on it.

... year anniversary with a cruise to Venice and the greek isles and just sat awhile and relaxed. After a couple hours, we decided to get on the road again. We wanted to go back to the charming village of Megalachori and eat at one of the little tavernas and take a few more photos. Lunch was a club sandwich with gyro pork on pita. We shared it for 5 Euros and watched local children playing in the street, babbling words in greek and looking like any other group of ...

... distance of Santorini, with great views of the caldera.

Three hours later, we were back at the old port and the donkeys were all lined up to take willing tourists up the 600 steps (300m) to the top. What is it that suddenly makes you want to try to beat the donkeys up? The challenge or just sheer idiocy? Well, we had a very small margin on them, probably 40m and then it was all on, trying to stay 40m in front of them! When ...

I teach my classes back-to-back, one at 3.20pm and the other at 4.45pm. Yesterday we only left Hiraklion, Crete minutes before my class at 3.20pm.

At 7.00pm, after my classes, I was scheduled to give a general talk about my ...

One of the primary reasons we chose this cruise was because Royal Caribbean stopped at Santorini. We heard about this amazing island that was the remnant of an extinct volcano and where the local inhabitants built their white washed houses along the edge. It was unanimous, we all agreed we had to see this for ourselves. We were not disappointed. Santorini is what remains after an enormous volcanic ...

... they stopped to look at some interesting (…) rocks. This was fantastic since we had the climb and the summit to ourselves only seeing the group when we were on our way down.

The volcano itself was a disappointment – it looked like an ordinary hole in the ground. We weren’t expecting lava but some steam or boiling mud would have been nice. It was fun to hike around and we shared tales of our mountain treks with Eli`s folks.
