A travel blog entry by smaringanti on Sep 16, 2015

Short and busy 12 day trip for my 2 week vacation in third year of residency. Initially decided to visit sister in SFO but since it's been 4 years she visited India, we both planned to visit at the same time, co-incidentally for Pranav's 5th birthday. Days went by very fast hanging out with friends, cousins and finally birthday event. Birthday event was a grand success with good turn out of people from both Maringanti and Satuluri ...

... and after the game! Mind blown. Isn't that counteractive? Rios played very well scoring twice. We were proud! When the final whistle blew all of us girls were screaming and jumping up and down. Clearly the best fan base there could be. We may have been more excited than the boys. There weren't many people around that late so Katie and I walked back to Tagore. We got back around 3am and I was ready for bed. Hopefully our game is tomorrow or we won't be able to play! ...

... found out we were stopped for four hours. Yes, four hours! I legitimately thought it was about 30 minutes but I should have known better. ... dont fit us Americans as easily as the tiny petite people from India. I wound up buying a long dress type of thing with pants and a scarf from Max. Sumana taught us what all of these articles of clothing are called but I cant remember. Too much to remember! I know what a kurta is though. Ill remember everything else eventually.
Anyway, we then headed back to Pantaloons. I bought two pairs of Harem pants there! Super cute and on sale. I got two pairs here for the same price ...

... drove through showcasing the Ganesh idol. They invited us over to enjoy the festivities and gave us bowls of rice to enjoy while dancing and throwing powder.

I am so happy to be able to experience all of these traditions and festivals. It truly allows me to experience the culture first hand and learn all the while. Keep 'em comin!
