    as we were coming in on the bus - if the town had ben charming it could have shaken that flat feeling but it's empty and everything is closed including restaurants except for a bar called the "Anaconda" which didn't look like the place where a respected professional and her aged father would be wise to enter.     ... that day, I can't remember all of them. At his sister's house, one of their friends worked with a lady from Seattle, and for some reason, he put me on the phone with her. We chatted briefly, and she told me she had been living here for about 15 years. She still hadn't mastered the language yet. We headed back to Chillán, and my father asked me to drive back.
