... I couldn't believe I would meet people here that worked for the same place, we quickly bonded over that and I now had friends just across the pond. We played games well into the night and the crowd kept growing bigger, I guess that's what happens with the allure of free beer. It became pretty late and I decided to head to bed. We left Cambria grey and drizzly and drove north along Highway 1, nowhere near as pretty as the part we drove along previously though! We ended up doing an impromptu stop at Santa Cruz as the sun was shining and we were so glad we did. Owen and I had fun splashing in the sea and we walked along the boardwalk while the boys had ice creams. It was a really nice place and we could have easily spent all day there but we had some plans to see some big trees ;) ...

DAY 75One of the many early starts, 5.45 to be up to get to Alcatraz. As it turned out, it was very early, but better to be late than sorry.
Alcatraz is often booked out and the day we visited was no exception. This was fine though as we had tickets and could just sit and enjoy the sun hotting up.
Sometime after 9am we arrived on the island which isn't as creepy as it is often ...
