... as it rained quite heavily for a short while. Set off when it eased and soon it stopped. We really have been quite lucky with the rain today as we got to see the ravine and upper part of the valley before the mist came in and obscured it. Wind also got up a little, the first wind we have encountered on the walk, and was blowing the leaves off the trees at a rapid rate. Valley acted as a wind tunnel to some extent. Finally arrived back at Bad Ischl and called in to the ...

Although it was the most perfect day there was not a lot happening there as most businesses and hotels have closed for the season. Found a cafe open but they only had snacks left over from Oktoberfest. We had bratwurst and pretzel! Our hotel stays open all year but we were the only guests. It is a large ...

... where got on the cable car for the Mountain station at 2,060 meters.

On the way up the cable car we ran into a couple girls from Chicago who seemed a little clueless on where to go. They wanted to go to the ice caves, but had not even checked in to get a time for the caves. And now they were on the wrong cable car heading to 5 Fingers. They had apparently bought a ticket for 5 Fingers (since they couldn't have got on the cable car without the ticket), but didn't seem to ...
