... so decided to walk back to the hotel. Semi early night (11). Got up early today as was supposed to be going wild water rafting, as I stated was supposed to. Looked down at my feet when I woke up and decided that having an elephants foot (well from the calve down so half a leg) was not a good idea to go rafting as gorilla trekking is only a few days away. As it quickly grew (my leg that is) decided to go and see a doctor. Yep badly sprained ankle together ...
Jinja, Jinja, Uganda mariskabassie... and gave us
various instructions how to recover from it, and that we had to paddle really really hard to get to it otherwise we would
have to go down the grade 3 rapid just next to it which is a bit lame.....music to my ears, and the other girl on the raft
and i decided that this was def the time to paddle backwards if we could, so the two boyfriends in the front were paddling
for their lives and rachel and i at the back we taking ...
... this tiny shop staffed with fabrics in all shades and colours. It was totally overwhelming and I could see that I strained Pamela’s patience and thus decided quickly on this blue, flowery fabric which turned out to be amazingly pretty and I was real happy. Now, describe the cut of the dress…it was funny when she asked questions like: ‘How do you like your skirts or dresses usually to be?’ Hahaha…ja, usually I like my dresses to be ...
Jinja, Uganda nic.... able to hold on to my paddle. I floated right by the get out point and a kayaker was telling me to swim to my raft. Are you kidding me? I tried but I've been on the river for 6 hours, my legs are burnt to a crisp and don't want to move and I'm hugging my paddle floating further and further away. Paulo was standing on top of the raft yelling me to drop the paddle. Very reluctantly I let it go and swim over to the raft where only two of my raft mates are waiting ...
Jinja, Uganda kylejesw... over a cat door which they had fitted to the truck! The kittens got out during the day and were wandering around the campsite like it was perfectly normal for them – brilliant J They were a very nice couple and we exchanged contact details and we hope we see them again one day. They are planning on going back to SA and setting up an animal breeding centre so they could be really good to visit one day.
Jinja, Jinja, Uganda jandhontour... we sat around drinking and Helen taught everyone how to play "Who Am I" which was good fun. We even had Sue and Moses playing.
After we finished up the punch we headed for the bar for more drinking - there will be some hangovers in the morning! It was a great night with everyone at the bar having a good time, probably the first night we had all got properly drunk together as we finally don’t have an early start and a long day driving.
Customs & Immigration into Uganda was a breeze, we decided to stop over at a town called Jinga which was a short drive thus ensuring the day did not blow out into a last minute dash before night fall to find a camp.
Unbeknown to us Jinga is the designated start of the Nile river, humm should have known that!! We camped at Eden Rocks Campsite perched on top of a cliff overlooking the first set of rapids as the Nile blasts out of lake Victoria. Awesome.. Also unbeknown to us ...
... supposed to go down. The name of it was Big Brother and it was mean. As soon as we went down into it, our raft got tossed so dam hard I didn’t realize what happened. I was under for what seemed like forever. I panicked a bit and tried climbing my way to the top for air. I climbed and climbed and really couldn’t find it all that well. I even opened my eyes to see if I was above the surface but all I saw was green. I made it ...
Jinga, Jinja, Uganda travel_lover87J ai fait pour la deuxieme fois les sources du Nil. En effet, je les avais deja vu au Burundi. Celle en Ouganda sont plus commerciale. Jinja, Uganda vmarchal... along with a wing, leg and the neck. I didnt want to be rude and not eat the food. I got my fork (they even keep a fork for me - I dont mind eating with my hands like everyone else) and flipped the eggs over and ate the wing and leg (sorry my veggie friends). I was waiting on Ant and Dec to see how I got on with my bush tucker trail!! :)
