... and with jeans on to cover my ankles) but it was worth it to look around and look out at the views, it was kind of mystical! It was €3 to get into the monastery itself and even though my ankles were covered they made me put a skirt overtop because I'm a girl! There were little museums, gardens, the church, a wine cellar and kitchen to look around inside. While we were wandering around Simon and I found a while room filled with skulls and bones which was super creepy. ...

Awaking early today we finally got a good chance to enjoy the amazing view from the balcony outside our equally amazing hotel room. ... we saw while were we at The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron was the modern way in which the monks brings things into the monastery. It is a box on a cable system. Items are loaded from the parking lot into the box and then pulled, I think, across the crevice to the monastery. I am guessing it is an a tiring job but it is certainly easier than pulling up supplies from a thousand feet below. ...

... and in very good shape after 400 years. I was shocked to see the walls covered with depictions of the torture and martyrdom of Christians. It was very gruesome with many types of torture and blood and gore. I was to find out later that many of the churches in these monasteries have frescoes such as these.

This morning at breakfast we met the owner of the hotel. We got to talking after I told her how wonderful her receptionist ...
