Today we woke up really early to get off the ship at 7am. We have docked in Izmir, Turkey and are here until about 2. We were originally supposed to be at the Greek island of Crete, but due to bad weather we were sent here. I was originally a little bummed by this, since I was really looking forward to the island, but getting to go to another place in Turkey seems to be a good place to settle ...

... fed more cats. Train ride was ok lost of room and we had a table, but no food only a little cart with coffee, water and biscuits. Luckily I had been warned by the train buff "the man in seat 61" web page and had packed some fruit and crackers. The bugger was it was only 5 hours into the 6 hour trip that I discovered the power points under the seats. But the upside was that we got ...

... east adjoining hill. That hill was no joke. A half hour of continuous up-hill scrambling found us gasping for breath at the top of the hill pictured in the background of the temple shot. The view from the top was awe-inspiring. All around us farmland stretched out like an ocean of crops, and mountains defined every horizon. I pulled a 'Lot' on the way up and never looked out until I got to the top; that made the view even more ...
