We arranged for a big long tuk tuk called a Sorngtaaou to pick us up at 4am. Me and noel were fast asleep when the alarm went off it was hard work getting up and out. People were still out on the p*** when we drove past to the airport. We paid 400 Bart but wish we had just tried to flag one down now as could have got it cheaper. It only took 10 minutes to get there at that time in the morning. The flight left on ...

Day 4 starts with a lot of rain and Emma feeling quite unwell. We can tell this as she does not want ANY breakfast which is unheard of. She is usually a fiend at breakfast. Come to think of it I didn't feel so crash hot myself. So after breakfast Emma and I went to convalesce while others went on another great floatation device hunt. Who knew what they would come back with this time! After a while emma felt well enough to attempt the pool where we met the others back from their ...

... vain. Instead we floated on the choppy surface and I pretended to shark-attack mother as she used to do to me and my brother when we were little (apparently mother sharks sometimes appear in chlorinated gym pools). She's such a good teacher of reality. Back at the hotel that evening, we decided to hunt down some fresh fish at one of the local restaurants. We got to pick our own snapper from a bed of ice, then wait patiently at our on-the-beach table while they cooked it ...

... and I spent most of the day reading my book; heaven!!!

For dinner we wanted to try one of the beachfront restaurants, so after a quick look on Tripadvisor (what would we do without the internet?!), we popped down to Octopus - it is unbelievable that you can get two beers, an entree, two mains and two desserts for $40 NZD, and the food is sooo good! We sat and watched the sunset (and the multiple local dogs running around on the beach), and it was lovely.

... road a few blocks to a night market filled with street food. I'm so full from my noodles and just get a fruit drink. We return to the hostel and get ready for the night. We start at a nearby bar. They have bar games, one of which is a competition with a Thai girl to see who can hammer a nail into wood first. These girls are amazing at it and not. The loser has to buy the winner a drink. Les let me go for him and the girl walked away after so he ...
