... to travel and we had a lot in common - I love these impromptu meetings with strangers that you leave feeling like friends - its strange but cool and weird at the same time. It happened a few times on the last trip we did too.

We had a simple patisserie lunch saving ourselves for a special last meal on the island which we had at a family owned restaurant at the top of our stairs. It turned out to be excellent - our best on the island so ...

        So it is special.

FYI -- The island owes its dramatic landscape to one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history. It occurred around 1600 BC, and what was once the island of Thira sank to the bottom of the caldera and the sea rushed into the abyss to create the great bay or lagoon.

... the beach front to Perivolos - the beach here has black sand and the crowd is definitely younger, with heaps of cool bars and restaurants you can see how this is a party area - we almost wish we had stayed down here for a night ;-) Denham let me ride the quad all the way home - did I mention how much fun it is!

Once back at the hotel we relaxed by the pool before getting ready for the evening.

Where was I? Oh yes, swimming in the hot springs. If you floated on your back (floating on your front is not advised as you very quickly run out of oxygen) and looked up at the towering steep walls of the volcano, framed by a vivid blue sky, you ...
