    ... grapevines are
kept very low to the ground and woven into a basket shape to protect
the fruit from the winds and burning sun. Sea mist is about all the
moisture they get to survive. The super sweet cherry tomatoes are a
Santorini specialty but are out of season now. There are loads of
quite expensive shops in Fira, nice to look at, especially the glass

... adventurous rote for my dinner. Most places in the bay sell fish by the kilo. I was informed to go into the kitchen to pick out my fish. The kitchen was hot and chaotic with shouts of Greek coming from everywhere. Looking at the big cooler of fish, I asked how the red snapper was. The guy shouts, "you want fish?" He then grabs a red snapper by the tail and flings on the scale...800 grams he shouts. I then asked about the lobster. He reaches in and ...

... Rottnest Express, more like a small cruise ship. We took the bus from the port to the town of Thera and walked to the village of Karteradhos where we stayed. We got a bit lost (not much), and got very hot. Check-in, shower, nap (there's not much to add there). We then headed to Thera (Fira) for a delicious dinner and beautiful sunset. I guess that is what everyone is here for. There a a great number of restaurants and hotels lining the cliff sides of the island. In ...

... that they are all tied up against the wall. Fira was beautiful, everything you expect in a greek island, the blue roofs, the white marble, the marble roads, the houses all along the cliffs. Truly spectacular island. Then we ventured off to Oia to see the sunset. Apparently its the most beautiful sunset. And it was I guess, but the fact that you had to squeeze through thousands of people and wind up and down and around the tiny paths to get to a certain spot to see it some ...

... We will just have to put up with it. Also, I had requested a GPS but they said they don't have any on the island as its too easy to get around. Its not difficult driving around as there aren't many roads but finding the hotel was difficult and took 45 minutes of circling around. Finally we arrived, a bit annoyed but after a drink and the friendly welcome we received, everything was forgotten.

    We have arrived.

    Ollie out.
